FEG is a scheme to assist employees whose employment has ended due to an insolvency event with their employer. FEG provides financial assistance, called an advance, to cover certain employment entitlements that are owed.

FEG is a legislative scheme established under the Fair Entitlements Guarantee Act 2012 which commenced on 5 December 2012.

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations relies on a productive partnership with insolvency practitioners to administer assistance under the FEG Act. The mutual objective for the department and insolvency practitioners is to work closely together to:

• determine employee debts quickly
• expedite lodgement of effective FEG claims
• make accurate decisions on FEG advances.

Insolvency practitioners are the primary contact for employees who are owed employment entitlements as a result of an insolvency event with their employer. To verify outstanding employment entitlements for effective and eligible claims we usually rely on insolvency practitioners to provide information from company books and records.
